in case you were wondering...
How do you pronounce Lefeve?
It's French, so it's pronounced Le-FAVE (as in, Claudia Lefeve is my fave author). I guess it could be worse, it could be spelled Lefebvre (which is more traditional and how spell check insists on spelling it). And no, the 'f' is NOT capitalized!
Why did you switch from YA books to writing mysteries?
You can read my post on switching genres here. Long story short, when I set out to be a writer, I always wanted to write mysteries. While I still love writing YA (and will continue to do so in the future), I can't ignore all the new characters that demand to be heard.
When will PARAMETER be released?
The fourth book in the Travelers Series has taken me awhile to complete it as I didn't want to just "write it" just to "release it." I want to ensure that the fourth book in the series is as good, if not better, than the previous in the series. You can read more about the fate of Parameter here. Neil Gaiman best explains the author/reader relationship regarding a series.
There's a new release date for DESTINED FOR TROUBLE. Is this a new release?
Yes and no. Shortly after I published DfT in September 2014, I was approached by Thomas & Mercer, and well, the rest is history. The revised edition contains minor editorial edits, but it's still the same book!
Did you major in English or creative writing in college?
Nope. I majored in Political Science, but I did minor in English. I also have a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology and a Master's in Criminal Justice (I feel obligated to add the last two because I'm still paying off those student loans!). I write because I genuinely love telling stories. You don't have to have majored in English to be a writer. You just have to work hard at your craft and sit down and write that story!
How do I become a writer?
That's easy...just write! I wrote a lot of short stories for small presses in my spare time before I wrote my first book. I did all this while working a full-time job and a part-time job. It IS possible to fit writing into your schedule... George McFly gave some great advice in Back to the Future, "If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."
Will you read my book/short story/work in progress?
Unfortunatley, I do not accept unsolicited requests. While I am honored to be asked to review your work, I don't have the time with my own writing schedule, plus, by not reading or discussing your book, this protects both you and me from any issues concerning stolen ideas.
How can I get a signed copy of your books?
I attend book signing events on occasion and I am happy to sign your book. However, I no longer sell/ship signed books due to the expense of shipping costs (especially with overseas requests). I have signed bookmarks/bookplates for those that cannot attend book signing events. All you need to do is email me your physical mailing address to recieve a signed bookmark/bookplate.
